Marseille – PSG, Match Preview, French 1st League
The most important rivalry in French football takes place in Stade Veledrome, at 21:00 CET. This match was a called-off one from matchday 10.
Marseille seem not having any serious injury problems (except long term injury of Julien R.) and probably fielding the strongest line up.
PSG on the other hand will be without suspended Makelele and there is the long term injury of Hoarau.
Marseille have been flying high when it comes to scoring lately. They scored 6 goals to Zurich in Uefa Europa League and 5 goals to Lyon in the French 1st League. PSG on the other hand are not getting well on with scoring that much but they have a solid defensive approach on most of the games.
In an important derby like this I don’t think any teams will risk their defenses too much. PSG are anyway not bright when it comes to scoring but definately above average when it comes to play a defensive style. Thus, Marseille will not find an opponent that leaves gaps in their defenses. Both Zurich and Lyon (take Toulalan playing as a CB into consideration) played pretty open and individual talents took the stage.
I am expecting a close game and a narrow win. The first choice would be a goals prediction as both teams will be careful in the back and risk little. Marseille’s important Champions League game in the midweek is also a factor; even they got a lead, I don’t think they will push that hard to extend their lead in the game.
